Multifonds Delivers ELTIF 2.0 Platform for Alter Domus in Just 3 Months

As the technology provider, Multifonds enabled Alter Domus – one of the world’s largest private asset servicers with over $2.5 trillion in assets under administration, 29,000 client structures, and 5,000 employees globally – to seize the ELTIF 2.0 opportunity. With new European regulations making alternative assets accessible to retail investors from January 2024, Alter Domus faced a critical challenge. As Joanna Chuda, Head of Fund Accounting, recalls: “When we looked at the changes coming with ELTIF 2.0, and evaluated the technology we had, it became clear that we needed something better. Our stack was OK for managing closed end funds. But for onboarding clients that would require more open ended features, which are expected with ELTIF 2.0, we realized there were certain constraints. We knew that we needed a fully automated solution that can scale.”

Multifonds delivered its Global Investor (MFGI) solution in just three months, going live in April 2024. The cloud native, agile platform automates Alter Domus’s full investor lifecycle, including digital onboarding, AML/KYC, MiFID II assessments, commitment tracking, capital calls, NAV calculations, SWIFT settlements, and distributions. The platform includes all ELTIF 2.0 liquidity management tools: gating, lock ups, side pockets, and transaction level fees, with the ability to unitise any fund.

The results are transformative. Alter Domus has the capability to manage an unlimited number of investors, with seamless SWIFT and NSCC integration, meeting US settlement requirements. The data architecture and automation help manage a bigger volume and frequency of investor transactions with very limited end user input, while reducing new client onboarding times to scale more quickly.

Crucially, Multifonds gave Alter Domus a competitive edge. “Multifonds is a very well recognized partner for managing transfer agency for open ended funds. That not only gave us confidence in the solution, but gave us extra credibility when we spoke to clients about it. It has definitely become a key selling point to win new clients.” With this foundation, Alter Domus is now exploring how the platform can support liquid and semi liquid products across the globe.
