What are the foundations to create a fundraising hub?

Luxembourg is a big office for Advent in Europe with over 60 people in Finance, Operations as well as an investment team already on the ground. Distribution was a natural addition especially in light of Brexit and the change in distribution rules to EEA investors. Our distribution team is global with offices in the US, UK and Europe, including Luxembourg.

The foundations to create a fundraising hub are first having the right team in place. A team that is, able to represent the Fund and to market it to the appropriate investors. To me, it is essential to develop the expertise of the internal Investor Relations team. These persons should be part of a in-house global team, which co-operates daily with other key functions of a GP, ie Compliance, Legal, Finance, Marketing and of course with the investment team .The other fundamental is the regulatory part. This is the main starting point to be able to fundraise and this should be taken into considerations from before the beginning until the end of the fundraising. In the past years, Luxembourg entities focused on Risks, Compliance and Finance. This is now time to further develop an IR focus and Luxembourg will become a significant fundraising hub.

Last Year's Edition in Photos

The main message coming out of this is that even if this private equity and venture capital investors are not interested in the space sector perse technologies coming out of it are going to start being used by organizations across a whole range of sectors and so just about every company going into the future is going to use space and so it's important that everybody pay attention to the trends that are happening here and appreciate how it's going to shape everyone's life on earth going into the future.

Increasingly those private companies are interacting with the digital world in the same way public companies are generating huge amounts of information from their customers and from their activities, this creates a significant opportunity to blend a systematic data-driven approach alongside a fundamental in-depth analysis of growth opportunities.

I think we should really really get inspired by all these companies smaller or big companies to understand how they manage to innovate and add some new technology and change their processes their operational processes.
Solenne Niedercorn-Desouches
Fabric Ventures, Senior Advisor at NED
We see the market evolving to data transformation and clearly, the pioneer and the leader for tomorrow will be the ones to embrace the data vacation but also have the ability to discuss with their partner so the asset owner and the asset manager or the asset manager and the asset servicer to work on a common and collaborative platform.
