Multifonds places innovation at the core of its strategy, delivering a technology platform that addresses the most pressing challenges facing Luxembourg’s private capital ecosystem. The Multifonds Global Investor platform provides a single, unified system for managing both traditional and alternative assets, including private equity and private debt, with advanced capabilities for loan administration, capital deployment, allocation, fee processing, and waterfall carry calculations. Innovation at Multifonds is demonstrated through three differentiated market approaches. First, the platform solves the scale constraint of legacy PE systems, enabling clients to onboard an unlimited number of investors across retail and institutional channels through seamless high volume onboarding with integrated KYC/AML frameworks and digital processes. This is a critical enabler for ELTIF 2.0 and retailization. Second, the Integration Broker serves as a configurable ETL engine, allowing seamless system to system connectivity with third party data sources, reducing manual intervention and improving operational efficiency. Third, automated exception driven workflows and native SWIFT interfaces enhance processing automation while maintaining full auditability. The platform includes comprehensive liquidity management tools such as lock up periods, redemption gates, and side pockets, all tailored for illiquid and semi liquid strategies. Real time investment and partnership accounting with IBOR, ABOR, and multi book capabilities support GAAP, IFRS, and tax books in parallel, enabling firms to meet diverse reporting standards with confidence. Built in compliance tools support MiFID II appropriateness checks, AML, and tax regulations. By empowering asset servicers and fund managers to scale operations, manage complex liquidity events, and meet regulatory requirements efficiently, Multifonds contributes meaningfully to Luxembourg’s position as a leading private capital hub. Innovation at Multifonds is not a feature; it is the foundation of every solution.

Multifonds Delivers ELTIF 2.0 Platform for Alter Domus in Just 3 Months

As the technology provider, Multifonds enabled Alter Domus – one of the world’s largest private asset servicers with over $2.5 trillion in assets under administration, 29,000 client structures, and 5,000 employees globally – to seize the ELTIF 2.0 opportunity. With new European regulations making alternative assets accessible to retail investors from January 2024, Alter Domus faced a critical challenge. As Joanna Chuda, Head of Fund Accounting, recalls: “When we looked at the changes coming with ELTIF 2.0, and evaluated the technology we had, it became clear that we needed something better. Our stack was OK for managing closed end funds. But for onboarding clients that would require more open ended features, which are expected with ELTIF 2.0, we realized there were certain constraints. We knew that we needed a fully automated solution that can scale.”

Multifonds delivered its Global Investor (MFGI) solution in just three months, going live in April 2024. The cloud native, agile platform automates Alter Domus’s full investor lifecycle, including digital onboarding, AML/KYC, MiFID II assessments, commitment tracking, capital calls, NAV calculations, SWIFT settlements, and distributions. The platform includes all ELTIF 2.0 liquidity management tools: gating, lock ups, side pockets, and transaction level fees, with the ability to unitise any fund.

The results are transformative. Alter Domus has the capability to manage an unlimited number of investors, with seamless SWIFT and NSCC integration, meeting US settlement requirements. The data architecture and automation help manage a bigger volume and frequency of investor transactions with very limited end user input, while reducing new client onboarding times to scale more quickly.

Crucially, Multifonds gave Alter Domus a competitive edge. “Multifonds is a very well recognized partner for managing transfer agency for open ended funds. That not only gave us confidence in the solution, but gave us extra credibility when we spoke to clients about it. It has definitely become a key selling point to win new clients.” With this foundation, Alter Domus is now exploring how the platform can support liquid and semi liquid products across the globe.
