Loyens & Loeff Luxembourg has implemented an ambitious and cutting-edge training program called the Private Equity Academy. The project has been developed internally with the support of several experienced lawyers who are in charge of the training sessions, and with the assistance of the Knowledge Management department for coordination.
This will become a yearly program that will provide junior lawyers with a global overview of the Private Equity industry as well as cross-practice general legal knowledge to understand the life cycle of a Private Equity fund. The 2023 edition is articulated around 7 sessions of around an hour each which deal with the main components Private Equity Luxembourg funds and their M&A transactions through holding acquisition structures.
Each session includes a specific legal focus with the voice and the input of experienced lawyers from different Loyens & Loeff’s practice groups, and a practical implementation at the end of each meeting. “Investing in people has always been a key priority for Loyens & Loeff. “People first” is one of our mottos, and this is definitely not a myth. This training program is just one of the many ways we show it” Mathilde Lattard, Partner in the Corporate, M&A department and leader of this training initiative expresses. In that context, providing practical and insightful training courses is an obvious key action to support employees’ growth but it is also needed to ensure that Loyens & Loeff can deliver the best service to its Private Equity clients which also plays a role in return on the reputation of the Luxembourg market in terms of quality of services and understanding of Private Equity players’ needs.
“We aim to enable junior lawyers to provide Private Equity clients with the highest quality of legal services, but also to understand every relevant aspect of our clients’ business” explains Marjorie André, Partner in the Investment Management department who is also actively involved in the implementation of the project. “This is one of the reasons why the program covers the full spectrum: from fund structuring, fund financing to acquisition structuring and until exit” adds Alina Stoica Senior Associate in the Corporate, M&A department and also directly involved in the project.
The Private Equity Academy has also been implemented in other jurisdictions where Loyens & Loeff has an office, considering the specifics of each market. It is also part of an even bigger training project. “The Private Equity Academy is a first step towards the implementation of a series of other training courses which will target more senior lawyers.” announces Mathilde Lattard.
“We are a full-service law & tax firm recognized for our technical expertise, pragmatic approach and focus on our clients’ needs. This requires cultivating an in-depth understanding of our clients’ business and the Private Equity Academy is part of the answer.” concludes Marc Meyers, co-Managing Partner.
