Paving the way for a vaccine: the investors’ perspective
Webinar: “The role of health-tech Venture Capital in the race to vaccine against Covid-19”
The Luxembourg Private Equity and Venture Capital association (LPEA) invited four of its investor members to a discussion on the importance and role of Venture Capitalists (VC) in solving current sanitary crisis and its deep implications.
With currently 141 listed initiatives for a Covid-19 vaccine according to the WHO[1], the free webinar on June 29th at 4.15 pm welcomed the testimonials of healthtech and biotech investors:
- Mark Tluszcz, co-Founder and CEO of Mangrove Capital Partners (Luxembourg);
- Debora Dumont, co-Founder and Managing Partner of Bioqube Ventures (Belgium);
- Xinhong Lim, Director and Analyst of Vickers Venture Partners (Silicon Valley, USA) and;
- Catherine Boule, Managing Partner of CapDecisif Management (France).
The international panel, moderated by Rajaa Mekouar (LPEA), provided an extensive view on the race to finding a vaccine for SARS viruses, the healthcare supply chain involved and the political and regulatory considerations of the process. From an investor perspective, the session also explored if and how are investors exposed to the healthtech sector, how investment trends shifted and how has their portfolio been affected by Covid-19.
The search for a vaccine is at the top of the global agenda and the LPEA brought to this unique session some of the investors directly exposed to the leading edge solutions in Biotech and Health technology of today.
This webinar closed LPEA’s series of interviews and webinars held for the past three months. A new series of digital events will be planned again from September onwards.
